Getting our universal offer right - Sequencing the curriculum long to medium term.
This session will focus on: The sequencing of the curriculum from long term mapping to unit design.
Pre reading: https://researched.org.uk/2019/06/24/writing-and-cognitive-load-theory/
The aim of the day is to ensure we are effectively sequencing learning for children through long term mapping (outcome and punctuation and grammar mapping) to medium term mapping (unit design) - backwards fading this to build automaticity.
The morning will be spent working collaboratively to review and refine schools existing long term maps (punctuation and grammar and writing outcome maps). If you are unsure what is mean by this link will give you some examples. Example PAG maps
To achieve this please bring with you:
- Any existing long term (PAG and outcome) maps you already have
- Supporting foundation curriculum maps e.g. history, geography, science (that may support you in planning out content of non-chronological reports for example).
- Your book spine for reading (as in an ideal world there would be a connection between these two documents).
- It may also be useful to choose a focus class or year group you would like to start with.
