English Conversation Cafe Advanced

A bout the event

We run 2 Conversation Cafes on Thursdays in our meeting roomm. Session 1 is for ADVANCED speakers and Session 2 is for BEGINNERS.

Build your confidence and skills a fun way to help you make conversation with other people in the group over a cup of tea or coffee.

This session starts at 10.30am and is for ADVANCED speakers. You may have been coming to Conversation Cafe for a while but we are open to anyone. In this group you will have more time for advanced English conversation on topics that will help you in everyday life. There will be more focus on grammar such as prefixes and tenses in an informal way. Note this is not a formal ESOL course.

The session is around 90 minutes led by our experienced library staff with free tea and coffee.

About the venue

Portishead Library is accessible, including a disabled toilet and baby change. The small group will be in the meeting room. The library will be open, and you will be able to borrow books in English, Ukranian, Arabic and some other languages.

Who can come?

This activity is suitable for young people and adults over 16 years old. You might be newly arrived in the UK or have been here for a lot longer. What matters is that we are here to get you chatting!

There is no creche or facility to accommodate young children for this activity.

Booking recommended via Eventbrite or by contacting Portishead Library as we have limited space in the room.

Safety

Please keep our community safe by sanitising your hands on entry, and make space for each other. If you are unwell, in line with public safety guidelines, please stay at home.

Borrowing books

You will have an opportunity to borrow books, so do bring your library card. If you’d like to join the library, bring ID with your address on it.
