About this Event

English GCSE: A Guide for Parents

Ah, Year 11. GCSE year. This is where it gets serious, right?

Chances are, the exams have changed a lot since you were at school -- however young and lovely you are! Supporting your child in their exam year is so important, but it can feel difficult to know where to start or what to say.

I'm a former teacher and an experienced private tutor, specialising in English. Join me for an overview of the ways in which English is assessed now at GCSE. I'll help you understand what's being expected of your child in English, and suggest how you can support them in working towards their best performance. We'll talk about how to navigate the terminology, understand the expectations, and avoid some of the pitfalls.

Your child might tell you they can't revise for English Language -- but they can certainly prepare, and there's plenty you can do to help them with that.
