Enhanced (Intermediate) Communication Skills Skills Training

• Do you work in health and social care and have a desire to communicate better?

Then this workshop is for you!

In this one day interactive workshop we will explore evidence-based principles, skills and strategies that enhance compassionate and effective communication. You will learn how to use these to support your communication with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues and you will have to opportunity to practice these skills in a safe and supportive learning environment.

What will I learn?

• You will learn to recognise the relevance of emotions and the importance of establishing your concerns to provide effective care
• We will discuss the barriers to compassionate communication currently experienced
• We will identify transferable communication strategies for difficult situations such as handling distress or anger, end of life conversations, difficult questions and complexinformation giving

How will I learn?

The interactive workshops are facilitated using the latest research-based approaches in a supportive environment. They are both interactive and experiential allowing you the opportunity to practise different skills through observation and interaction in a safe supportive environment

Venue Information

The Christie Education Centre is located on the 2nd floor in Dept 17 of the main hospital and can be accessed by stairs or lift. Toilets are also on this floor including an accessible toilet. A prayer room is available and close by. We want everyone attending our event in person to have the best possible experience. We provide regular breaks, access to quiet spaces etc. but If there is anything else we can do to make the day/your experience more comfortable, please let us know.

Booking Terms & Conditions

• Your place will only be confirmed when The Christie receives payment or the production of an official purchase order. Please DO NOT book a place unless you have approval from your manager AND confirmation that your trust are willing to pay your delegate fees.
• Once your place is confirmed, you will be notified by email. Please ensure that we hold a valid email address and mobile contact number for you.
• Payment must be made before the course commences. We reserve the right to cancel a booking in the case of non-receipt of payment.
• Joining instructions will be sent via email two to four weeks before the course commences.
• In the event of a cancellation: A charge of 25% of the course fee will be made for cancellations up to 6 weeks prior to the workshop date; a charge of 50% of the course fee will be made between 4 and 6 weeks prior to the workshop; no refund will be given for cancellation within 4 weeks of the workshop; suitable replacement delegates will be accepted up to 3 working days prior to the course.
