Proposed speakers and topics (running order may differ on the day)

Gardens for Greyhounds-Caz Lack

This presentation looks at the best type of gardens for greyhounds. Even if you have a small garden Caz will highlight how it can be made into an area which your greyhound enjoys, and which encourages him to explore, and which the whole family can enjoy too.

Exercising your greyhounds mind -Pennie Clayton (practical and theory)

Exercise is one of those subjects that people become obsessed with. In fact over exercise is more common than under exercise as many people believe that exercise means physical activity. Mental stimulation is one of the very best ways of helping your greyhound to acclimatise and build confidence in a world he doesn’t always understand. Mental stimulation needs fulfilling daily and this talk will explain what it is and how to teach your greyhound new skills.

(There will also be examples of games outside the hall during lunchtime)

Socialisation and greyhounds-educating and acclimatising ex racing greyhounds to their new world-Dawn Allen

Socialisation is arguably one of the most important facets of a greyhounds life when he goes to a new home. Dawn will look at why it is so integral to get this right, and why it can be difficult. She will look at the right kind of environments to use and how to avoid bad experiences.

Anxiety and the newly homed greyhound –Stefanie Rousseau

Steph will talk about anxiety, stress and separation problems. So often the term “separation anxiety” is used incorrectly so she will clearly explain why anxiety builds up, how to lower stress levels and how to build confidence in a greyhound who is experiencing stress and worry when left home alone.

Injuries, pain, red flags and therapies for greyhounds-Pennie Clayton

Information on how to spot pain and how to maintain your greyhounds health by assessing him and using physical therapies and mobility work.

Q and A at end of day featuring all the presenters.
