Guest Speaker: Alastair Gordon, Arup. Leeds Chamber Vice President
With over 28 years of experience at Arup, Alastair Gordon is currently the Global Skills and UKIMEA Leader, for Transport Planning, and is responsible for advancing skills and knowledge sharing across the 800 transport planners, globally.
His career has predominantly focused on the north of England, including Leeds Arena, The Light, York Central, Frenchgate Interchange, Bingley Relief Road and Leeds South Bank Masterplan.
Alastair is interested in Decarbonising Transport – having led a number of projects looking at decarbonising transport within northern cities, including the electric bus in York Active Travel corridors in Leeds, Manchester and Wakefield, a number of public transport interchanges and South Yorkshire Bus Franchising.
He is also interested in the interaction between active travel, public realm, place and transport, and passionate about the role transport can play in improving people’s lives, place and stimulating economic growth. He is currently working on the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme – a £3bn privately financed scheme.
He is currently the Vice President of Leeds Chamber. Avid Newcastle fan. Enjoys running!
