Enliven: Give it a Go: Papercutting with Silvina De Vita
Event Information
About this event
This workshop is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of paper cutting. It's run by Sussex based artist Silvina De Vita. Paper cutting is a fast growing trend and a great way of creating designs to brighten up your home, create decorations for special occasions such as Christmas and Weddings, or make personal gifts for friends and family.
During this workshop you will learn how to use a scalpel knife to cut intricate designs from existing templates. You will learn various techniques which Silvina will talk you through step by step, and will be encouraged to experiment with colours and textures using a selection of papers to create your piece. You will create your own artwork which you can then take home with you. Your work can then be mounted into a frame and given as a present, or displayed in your own home. You will also learn how to create your own designs for future artworks.
All materials will be provided and you will get to go home with one small but wonderful artwork ready to frame and hang on your wall.
About Silvina
When Silvina left Argentina in 2010 and moved to London with her one-year old, it felt like starting again. Invigorating. But scary! She knew almost no one and had to scrabble round for scraps of graphic design work just to make ends meet.
Once she'd built a bit of a network she started pushing towards what she really wanted to do – art, craft and teaching. The last few years have been a whirlwind. She's had three children, moved to Brighton, taken up gardening after a RHS course (now that she actually has a garden), studied for an MA in Art History, turned a shoddy old garage into a shiny new art studio… and started My Papercut Forest.
The workshop is completely free to attend. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
