Event description

Description

There are more than 100,000 LGBT+ residents in London. Their experiences of services and support are not always positive.

Opening Doors London (ODL), in partnership with RB Kensington & Chelsea Council, is convening a meeting for stakeholders from health services, local authorities, voluntary and private sectors, as well as older LGBT+ activists and residents, to discuss how services can better understand and address their needs.

‘I don’t want a different service; I want a good service. One that is acknowledging of me as an individual gay person, but not making a special case.’

- ODL member

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

* meet others interested in addressing the needs of older LGBT+ residents

* share examples of good practice

* discuss barriers to effective working

* identify ways to work together and improve services

* take away free resources, video links and good-practice guides to share with friends, family, work colleagues and social networks

‘My personal experience is that I believed it was ok to tell my doctor I am bisexual. Instead I got rejection: he showed me the door…’

- ODL member
