About this event

This is the next in the environment cluster workshops.

Since COVID became part of our lives over the past year, we’ve come to appreciate the importance of the day-to-day environment we live in. For some of us, that's a built-up, highly-populated place that's normally very busy. For others, it's a less populated, more rural and relatively quiet place. Whether urban, rural or anything in-between, the spaces we move through to reach the shops, go to work or visit friends and family have a huge impact on how we feel. Do we feel oppressed, depressed and feel the need to escape? Do we find things that uplift our spirits and helps us to believe that the spaces we move through and live are actually pretty good?

This event will be exploring the way public spaces and places are designed - and how that can make your community feel.

Please note: We have two attendance options available for attendees: in-person and online. We have created an online option for those who cannot attend or do not feel comfortable attending an in-person event. Online attendance will mean a reduced agenda - so you are not ZOOMED OUT. For further info about our ticket options, please email lauren.omokheoa@localtrust.org.uk.

Local Trust's mission is to enable residents to make their own communities and their areas better places in which to live.

Local Trust was established in 2012 to deliver Big Local, a National Lottery Community Fund-funded programme which committed £1m each to 150 neighbourhoods across England. The £217m originally provided by The National Lottery Community Fund to support this programme is the largest single-purpose Lottery-funded endowment ever made, and the biggest ever investment by a non-state funder in place-based, resident-led change.

In terms of scale, time horizon and ethos, nothing like Big Local has ever existed. Designed from the outset to be radically different from other funding programmes, at the heart of Big Local is a vision of empowered, resilient, dynamic, asset-rich communities making their own decisions on what is best for their area. In 2019, half way into delivering Big Local, we reported on what we have learned so far.
