This session will provide an overview of assistive technologies for computer access and environmental control and the local team’s role in their provision. It will enable participants to support individuals in accessing computer access and environmental controls that are within the scope of local services and be able to make appropriate referrals to the specialist assistive technology team.
This session is aimed at Occupational Therapists and other professionals who work with individuals with disabilities, who may have difficulty using computers and controlling functions around the home.
To provide an overview of the roles of the local and specialist teams in the provision of computer access and environmental control options.
To enable participants to assess and support clients in using computer access options and environmental controls within the remit of local services.
To provide an overview of computer access and environmental control options.
To provide an overview of theoretical models of AT and the assessment and decision making process.
