Environmental Delivery Plan Stakeholder Engagement Session

Overview

The aim of this session is to bring stakeholders and Natural England colleagues together to discuss Environmental Delivery Plans.

The Planning and Infrastructure Act 2025 has given Natural England duties to prepare Environmental Delivery Plans (EDPs) under the new Nature Restoration Fund (NRF).

The aim of this introductory session is to bring stakeholders and Natural England colleagues together to discuss Environmental Delivery Plans (EDPs) building confidence at the beginning of a collaborative process.

EDPs aim to make the planning system more streamlined by giving developers a clear and simple way to discharge their environmental obligations and address environmental impacts to protected sites and species. This means removing the need and cost of bespoke assessments for each individual development by giving developers the option to pay a levy. Natural England will use this pooled resource, working collaboratively to deliver conservation measure, as set out in an EDP, to address the impact that development has on a protected site or species.

The day will consist of a presentation on NRF purpose and EDP development, followed by a series of breakout groups to discuss clarifications, opportunities and risks.
