About this event

  • 5 hours 30 minutes

The modern farmed landscape is in a state of transition, with farmers uniquely placed to take advantage of novel environmental income streams alongside the sustainable production of food. ‘Public money for public goods’ under the Environmental Land Management Scheme and Sustainable Farming Incentive is meeting with private ‘green finance’ to offer farmers a range of financial opportunities to implement innovative solutions to some of agriculture – and society’s – most pressing problems.

This event is designed to help unpick and explain the myriad of options available. Hear from, among others:

· Janet Hughes, Defra Programme Director for the Future Farming and Countryside Programme, with an update on SFI.

· Tom Curtis, founding partner and director of sustainability consultancy 3keel, about the innovative and expanding Landscape Enterprise Networks - channeling private finance into environmental measures.

· Claire Robinson, NFU Senior Countryside Advisor, on what this all means for farm businesses.

The day will also include a farm tour of the Allerton Project, which since 1992 has been at the forefront of research and development of many of the nature-friendly farming and landscape management practices which farmers are increasingly turning to, as well as a farmer panel of future-thinking farmers discussing how they are seeking to future-proof their businesses.

Then why not join us for an evening screening of the inspirational regenerative farming documentary, Six Inches of Soil?
