Environmental Principles Policy Statement Duty

How can we assist Ministers to fulfil their duty to have regard to the Environmental Principles Policy Statement when making policy?

Understanding the key aspects of this duty and how to go about conducting an assessment of policy against the 5 environmental principles is essential to avoid a Judicial Review of a policy decision. Come along to this session to find out:

· WHAT are the 5 environmental principles

· WHAT is the policy statement and where can it be found

· WHAT are the exemptions to the duty

· WHAT does it mean to have ‘due regard’

· HOW can you conduct a proportionate assessment

· WHAT resources are out there to assist you

Policy colleagues at all levels will benefit from this engaging, interactive session.
