This environmentalism poetry workshop is a beginner-friendly way for people to come together and understand how they can use their words as a means of addressing the issues around them.
In this workshop, we will cover some of the fundamentals of poetry as well as links with environmentalism with an overall theme of 'UnBroken', which links to the Camden Green Loop theme for this years Camden Collective festival.
This workshop is facilitated by Aya Elgool, a local spoken-word artist who has been performing for 6 years. She has collaborated previously with local organisations such as Fitzrovia Youth In Action and Young Camden Foundation to create spoken-word films highlighting issues in her local community, and having been nominated and won awards for it too.
The workshop was brought about thanks to Camden Green Loop and Hdayet Otaky. Hdayet is a young person from Camden who is a Camden Inspire Ambassador; his role beyond organising this environmentalism poetry workshop includes representing Camden Inspire and helping them organise their festival which is on Saturday 20th September 2025.
The aim of the workshop is to not only make environmentalism and poetry seem more accessible, but to also encourage everyone else to potentially perform their work at the festival too!
This workshop is open to everyone, whether you are a seasoned writer, passionate about the environment or just looking for something different to do, it is a space you are more than welcome to be in!
