EPIC: Social Processing Workshop
Event Information
About this event
EPIC have established that children who present with an inflexible mindset demonstrate more challenging behaviours at school, which may impact educational achievement, friendships and emotional well-being.
Over the past two years EPIC have developed a model to provide schools with an immediate intervention for children with inflexible thinking. In association with resources from Social Thinking® EPIC have devised a groupwork programme, EPIC APES, aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils.
The programme content aims to target rigidity of thought in children by addressing the following areas:
- A- Attention and Self-Awareness
- P- Perspective Taking and Empathy
- E- Expected Behaviours
- S- Solving Problems
At the workshop delegates will learn why these areas are targeted and how to successfully run the intervention programme. The programme teaches children attention and awareness, perspective taking, empathy, expected behaviours and problem solving skills.
