Overview

Dracula, atmospherically told through solo storytelling and live on-line theatre unearthing Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire tale.

Varna to Whitby.

Written 18 July, things so strange happening, that I shall keep accurate note henceforth till we land.

Dr John Seward records a narrative of the terrifying events that have beset his friends, drawing together letters and journals encompassing events from rain swept Whitby, to fog bound London, all the way to the towering mountains of Transylvania.

Adapted by Matthew Wood across four atmospheric episodes, this tale aims to be as true as possible to the original source material of Bram Stoker’s novel, showcasing the creeping build of gothic horror found within those pages.

This atmospheric rendition of the Dracula story will drift between solo storytelling from the different characters who recorded their fates in letters and journals to live on-line theatre as the characters meet and experience the terrible machinations of the Count. The story is divided into four, one-hour long parts Zoomed live over January and then available on catch up afterwards! -

• Castle Dracula – 7th January

• The Demeter – 14th January

• Lucy – 21st January

• The Hunt – 28th January

Our supporters on Kickstarter who have already purchased their tickets do not need to also book via Eventbrite – Zoom and catch up links will be sent through to them through their Kickstarter rewards.

In part two suitors gather about the beautiful Lucy Westenra, but she suffers strange bouts of sleepwalking on the Whitby cliffs. And in a storm a ship approaches the harbour of Whitby, seemingly piloted by a dead man…

“One more gone. Lord, help us! Mate says we must be past Straits of Dover, as in a moment of fog lifting he saw North Foreland, just as he heard the man cry out. If so we are now off in the North Sea, and only God can guide us in the fog, which seems to move with us; and God seems to have deserted us.”
