EPP: Expert Patients Programme
EPP is for anyone with a long-term health condition (either physical and psychological) who wishes to learn self-management skills for controlling and improving their health. Long term health conditions can lead to low self-esteem, emotional, physical and social problems which can affect the quality of life and relationships.
Each EPP session will introduce a new topic and provide a range of skills and techniques that could be useful in addressing some of these areas.
Some of the skills discussed on EPP include:
•Setting achievable goals;
•Positive thinking techniques.
Each EPP is delivered over 7 sessions, by course leaders who have experience of living with a long-term health condition. The course is delivered by Expert Patients Programme offered at the Recovery College.
What is the Recovery College?
DISCOVER: Recovery College is led by South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust and supported by Kirklees Council. We work in partnership with volunteers and other supporting organisations to develop and run a range of workshops and courses which promote well-being and good mental health.
We focus on education, building people’s skills and knowledge and should not be seen as therapy or a clinical intervention.
Our sessions have been designed and are run by people with personal experience of maintaining their own emotional wellbeing and professionals that work with them.
