Epping Forest Tourism Summit
Fri 14 October 2016, 09:00 – 13:00 BST
Epping Forest District, in conjunction with the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel, has hosted a number of very successful Tourism Conferences to coincide with English Tourism Week during March each year. Reflecting on the timing, members of the district’s Tourism and Visitor Board felt that an event towards the end of the season would be more helpful. This would allow discussion about emerging issues and opportunities with enough time for planning and preparation before the start of the new season. It was therefore decided that in future, such events should be held around October starting with a second conference for 2016 on the 14th October again at the Marriott Hotel Waltham Abbey.
Having two events this year allows the luxury of varying the format for the second event which will feature a variety of local tourism and visitor businesses invited to offer an insight into their year and plans for the future. There will also be news and a pre-launch preview of the new tourism website currently under construction and an update on the accommodation survey also being undertaken currently. The rest of the format will follow that enjoyed at previous conferences with workshops, networking and refreshments. As with previous conferences, the event is open to all those involved with the local tourism and visitor economy and is entirely free although registration is required to secure a place. One of the successes of the conferences has been the variety of businesses attending, from major attractions to smaller service providers. This has led to a greater awareness of the visitor offer across the district as well as tangible opportunities for business deals and partnership working.
