Event description

Description

We would like to invite you to our EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Cloud Computing for Big Data annual Industry Day. This will be held at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art on Wednesday 26th June 2019, from 9.30 to 17:00.

‘Creating Future Leaders in Data Science’ will be our central theme of the day, which will focus on bringing together industry and academic research to establish future collaboration and innovation opportunities.

As well as showcasing the fantastic breadth of our students’ work in data analytics, you’ll hear how the CDT in Cloud Computing for Big Data has contributed to the success of one of our key industrial partners.

Who should attend?

This event is open to everyone who is interested in harnessing the value locked in data, which will offer actionable insights and improve business performance - regardless of the sector or background.

Our experience of data analytics is that solving real problems with real data requires people with deep knowledge and skills in both computing science and statistics, who have practical experience in handling real data sets. You’ll hear our students describe their work, and have a chance to discuss it with them.

You’ll also learn about opportunities for your company to engage with the students through projects, internships and sponsorship.

Programme

Hosted in the iconic BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, we’ll kick off at 9:30am with light refreshments, followed by short presentations from the students on their work. There will be opportunity to network informally with the staff, the students, and the other organisations attending.

We will end with a drinks reception at 16:00.
