Thermoelectric Materials & Their Applications

EPSRC Thermoelectric Network

Tuesday, 14 April 2015 from 9:30 to 16:30 (GMT)

Loughborough, United Kingdom

The EPSRC have provided support for the establishment of a Thermoelectric Network with a primary objective of bringing together the U.K.’s Thermoelectrics community to help UK industry develop and exploit superior materials, devices and systems.

In particular the scientific objectives are to achieve greater understanding of the factors controlling thermoelectric performance of a wide range of materials and identify strategies to enhance performance, and to develop new high-performance TE materials to meet current and developing needs of different industrial sectors.

The technical objectives are: to define the performance required for specific application sectors; to define commercial engineering problems that currently limit market exploitation, and strategies to overcome the limitations; to improve module design and construction, including development of novel architectures; to model and predict performance at device and system level; to develop a Roadmap for Thermoelectrics.

For this second Workshop, the EPSRC Thermoelectric Network will host a one day meeting which will focus on Thermoelectric Materials and their Applications.

The programme will include the following invited contributions:

Paz Vaqueiro (UniversityofReading)

New Directions in the Search for Thermoelectric Materials

Steve Parker (UniversityofBath)

Modelling Transport Processes in Thermoelectric Materials

Jeff Snyder (Caltech,USA)

Engineering Complex Thermoelectric Devices - TE design methods

Alex Cuenat (NPL)

Accuracy, Precision, Repeatability: Metrology for Thermoelectric characterisation

Bob Gilchrist (JaguarLandRover)

Thermoelectric Generation, an End User's Perspective

The full programme and the detailed timings will be available nearer the event and will be available on the Network web page

Registration:
Attendance is free of charge but registration is essential.

A £60 cancellation fee will be applied for cancellations received after close of play on Wednesday 1 April 2015, and no-shows.
