Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Training

This Equality, Diversity and Inclusion course explains what the law expects of individuals in terms of preventing discrimination and harassment based on the nine protected characteristics, but it also empowers you to do the right thing, to give everyone the same opportunities and to ensure everyone has a sense of belonging, whoever and wherever they might be.


Equality - treating everyone fairly - diversity - appreciating people's uniqueness - and inclusion - encouraging everyone to retain their uniqueness - are vital components of workplaces and societies everywhere, so understanding how to promote them is essential for all employees.

Aims of the course

By the end of this course, you will:


  • Understand how the Equality Act 2010 protects from discrimination, harassment and victimisation for nine specific protected characteristics.
  • Recognise these nine protected characteristics and understand how to promote the equality, diversity and inclusion of them.
  • Understand what is meant by discrimination, harassment, victimisation and bullying, how to avoid them and how to report these behaviours.
  • Recognise where personal changes to behaviour can be made in order to ensure everyone feels valued and included.
  • Understand that equality, diversity and inclusion are essential values to uphold both in and outside of the workplace.
  • Understand the responsibilities of all employees, employers, managers and HR teams in regards to ensuring equality and diversity in work practices and procedures.

C ourse Content:

  • Introduction to the Protected Characteristics
  • Key terms and definitions, the nine protected characteristics, age, disability, and gender reassignment.
  • Marriage & Civil Partnership, Pregnancy & Maternity and Race
  • Marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, and race.
  • Religion & Belief, Sex, Sexual Orientation & Workplace Equality Policies
  • Religion and belief, sex, sexual orientation, and workplace policies and procedures.

Assessment

The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%. The answers are marked automatically so you will instantly know whether you have passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.
