Event description

Description

An Equality Impact Assessment (EA) helps you to analyse a policy, process or change to make sure it does not discriminate or disadvantage people.

Learning Outcomes: This is a brief introductory session outlining -

· ONS's legal and moral duty

· What is an EA

· When we use them

· Who's responsible

· The EA process

· What we do with completed EAs (i.e. retaining centrally for retrieval/publication as necessary, and using findings/data to help develop policy and to promote best practice).

Session format: The bulk of the session involves working in groups to carry out equality assessments using case studies of varying degrees of complexity, and which are based on recent ONS scenarios (e.g. recruitment, smart working and ONS Transformation).

This is an informal and interactive session that aims to introduce attendees to the process, improve their understanding of it, and, hopefully, give reassurance that it's not as complex or daunting as they may think.

No preparatory work or legal background is required.

If you have any individual needs that need accommodating or you would want the trainer to be aware of, please email the course organiser at least a week before the course, at Transformation Learning and Development.
