About this event

Equipment Familiarisation for individuals who are ALS/APLS providers and are new to WM Hospital.

Duration;- 45 minutes session

Venue;- Education Centre, First Floor, Learning and Development Office, WM hospital

Objectives:

Within this session there are five key teaching sections:


  • Safe defibrillation using AED and Manual modes on DFM100
  • Use of DFM100 for Synchronised Cardioversion
  • Use of DFM100 for Transcutaneous Cardiac Pacing
  • Intra-osseous access (EZ-IO)
  • Waveform Capnography

Learning Outcomes:

1) Understanding of how to use DFM100 in AED and Manual modes in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK standards; as well as associated safety features

2) Understanding of how to use DFM100 for Synchronised Cardioversion in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK standards

3) Knowledge of Energies used for defibrillation and Cardioversion

4) Understanding of how to use DFM100 for transcutaneous cardiac pacing in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK standards

5) Awareness and understanding of the use of Intra-osseous (IO) devices; including indications, insertion sites, insertion technique, contraindications and complications

6) Awareness and understanding of the use of Waveform Capnography during Cardiac Arrest.
