Description

“Anywhere you hear or see [God’s] word preached, believed, confessed, and acted upon… a ‘holy Christian people’ must be there.” Martin Luther

Equipped has become a hugely popular series of evening courses over the last few years—designed specially to address the needs of Christians and their local churches.

Moorlands College Equipped courses are now being hosted regularly across the UK, emphasising the difference Equipped can make to local church and community life. One student described her experience this way:

“The course is brilliant! You meet other Christians of all ages and backgrounds. The teaching is practical and high quality—I learned such a lot in a short time—and had fun too!”

TRANSFORMING WORSHIP:
CHANGING WORSHIP THAT CHANGES LIVES

Worship is very much on the agenda these days—for better, and for worse. The sea of fresh approaches to corporate worship, with a strong emphasis on the need to be contemporary and relevant, has brought with it unsettling waves of disagreement and even division: the tragedy of the ‘worship wars’. What are the issues? What’s at stake? How should Christians worship? Does it really matter? With such questions in mind, this course explores biblical teaching on worship, then encourages a wider discussion about worship practices and styles.

7–9pm, Mondays
Eight sessions over nine weeks
25 September–20 November 2017

Chris Jack has been teaching worship for over 20 years. He has worked with (and taught) a number of Christian songwriters and worship leaders. Chris is currently writing a book on worship.

Tom Rothwell is the Assistant Pastor at New Life Church, New Milton. He writes and records his own worship music and is passionate about helping others explore different approaches to worship.

THE CHURCH OF TODAY AND TOMORROW:
PART I, THE CHURCH IN FORMATION

How did a disreputable gang in an obscure part of the Roman empire go on to impact the entire world with their message? This course assumes no knowledge and follows the turbulent, troubling, inspiring and perplexing story of how the Church developed; starting in Acts and maturing through the Middle Ages, before reaching the Reformation. The course will also include a special guest lecture session to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Gain insights into archaeology, politics and theology that will inspire a love of history.

THE CHURCH OF TODAY AND TOMORROW:
PART II, THE CHURCH IN TRANSITION

The events of the 20th century have created a time of enormous transition. The missionary movement, the rise of liberal theology, the growth of Pentecostalism and religious pluralism all shape our understanding of what it means to be Church. This course takes a closer look at more recent history to understand the state of the Church today. It will highlight the issues and challenges Christians need to prepare for, as we face a daunting but exciting future together.
