eSafety Parent Support Evening
Please note that the date of this meeting has changed to Thursday 9 February 2017
For parents with children at a Clevedon Learning Trust school
The evening will begin promptly at 6.30pm and will conclude at approximately 8.15pm
As the evening will involve some practical iPad support, bringing your personal or child’s iPad will be of an advantage, however all resources and guidance will be accessible on the Clevedon School’s iClevedon site: www.iclevedon.co.uk
After the success of last year’s event, we are delivering another Parent Support Evening on Tuesday 7th February at Clevedon School. Its aim is to tackle issues surrounding a child’s use of the internet and help to demystify the risks surrounding technologies by providing parents with real and practical advice including how to manage that risk, take positive action and create a dialogue with their child.
The Parent Support Evening will involve an engaging session run by an expert from The South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL), part of the wider UK Safer Internet Centre. Following this there will be a short practical carousel, run by Clevedon School’s Digital Learning Team, through which parents can learn how to improve the security and controls of their child’s iPad.
Comments following last year’s event:
Excellent event, every parent should attend
The iPad top tips were excellent!
The evening will highlight the use of dialogue at home as a powerful tool in creating a safe internet environment. It will give parents an insight into how filtering and monitoring may work and how research is showing changes in use and types of use of technology by their children. The practical session will then provide simple guides to OurPact, restrictions, guided access, passcodes, and iCloud on the iPad.
