eSafety Parent Support Evening
Tuesday 9 February
For parents with children at Clevedon School, Tickenham CofE Primary School or Yeo Moor Primary School
The Parent Support Evening will involve an engaging session run by an expert from The South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL), part of the wider UK Safer Internet Centre. Following this there will be a short practical carousel, run by the Schools Digital Learning team, in which parents can learn how to improve the security and controls of their child’s iPad.
Please note that the evening will include explicit gaming content that is not suitable for under-18s. We strongly urge you not to bring your children. Any children present will be asked to leave the room when the explicit content is being shown.
Some of the key questions often posed by parents that will be tackled during the evening
Social media sites - Can they be restricted?
Apps - Do I need to monitor them?
Gaming – how can I monitor their contacts?
The evening will highlight the use of dialogue at home as a powerful tool in creating a safe internet environment. It will give parents an insight into how filtering may work, how research is showing changes in use and types of use of technology by their children. The practical session will then provide simple guides to restrictions, guided access, passcodes, locations services and iCloud on the iPad.
