Description

The Health Innovation Network is looking forward to welcoming you on the ESCAPE-pain training open to clinicians and exercise instructors on Wednesday, 10th April. The training will be from 9.30 – 16.00 at Guy's and St Thomas' Education Centre, in Seminar room 3. Registration and refreshments will be available from 9.00, a sandwich lunch will be provided at 1pm and the course will finish by 4pm.

The full day course will cover the below areas:

  • The theoretical foundations and evidence-based for ESCAPE-pain (including its clinical and cost effectiveness)
  • The practical skills required to support behaviour change in people to self-manage their OA through developing enhanced motivational interviewing, goal setting, helping people develop action and coping plans, group facilitation techniques, and a practical element demonstrating the exercises
  • How to set-up and deliver ESCAPE-pain (including optimising referrals, uptake and retention and how to run each session of the programme)
  • Guidance on how to develop and adapt ESCAPE-pain to work within different settings

Pre-qualifications for clinicians:

Basic clinical knowledge of osteoarthritis and its management are required, including familiarity with delivering education and exercise to patients.

Pre-qualification for fitness instructors:

You will need to provide evidence (scans or photos) of all qualifications noted as essential in order to be confirmed on this training course. Please send these to francesca.thompson1@nhs.net

  • Level 2/3 underpinning anatomy and physiology (essential)
  • Level 3 Exercise Referral or a relevant level 4 qualification (essential)
  • At least 150 hours previous experience of working with specialist populations e.g. Exercise Referral, Cardiac, Back care, Falls etc. (essential)
  • One or more REPS Level 4 Qualifications (desirable)
  • Introduction to MI/Understanding Behaviour Change (desirable)


REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT PROCESS

If you are paying by card you can proceed by choosing the ticket that is relevant to you (i.e select whether you are comming from a commercial or public sector organisation). If you are paying by invoice you will need to click on the blue lettering at the top of the pop up box that reads 'enter promotional code', then follow the directions outlined below for paying by invoice.

Paying by invoice: Please use the promo code INVOICE to get through to the booking page, in the last application box please type a statement of who accepts the fee for the training along with the following details: Name, address and telephone number the invoice should be sent to.

Finally, we are asking that all registrants complete a few questions during the registstration process as it will give the instructors a better idea of your background and allow you to get the most out of the course. Pre-reading materials will be sent to you along with a reminder email including location details and timings approx a week before the training date.

Please note, if you are unable to attend the traning but the fee has already been paid, you will be contacted and booked onto the next available training.
