Delve back to the time of King Alfred to unravel a tale of politics, mystery and Saxon treasure set within our timber longhall. Handle real objects alongside authentic replicas to aide you and your team on a saga, rich with testing puzzles and intricate secrets.


What to Expect

Imagine stepping into the Saxon longhall, its walls echoing with the whispers of ancient Saxon tales. As you and your team gather, you're transported back to the time of King Alfred, a period rife with political intrigue and hidden treasures.

In this immersive experience, you'll handle real historical objects and authentic replicas, each one could be a key to unlocking the mysteries of the past. Your journey will test your wits and teamwork as you navigate through an adventure that brings history to life in a way that's both educational and entertaining.


Your Itinerary

Embark on a thrilling quest of interactive problem-solving through the Longhall and its hidden chambers to break the curse.

  • You will be greeted by a Saxon who will set the scene with a gripping tale of a curse.
  • Then your group will be given three challenges to overcome before you can enter the hidden chamber.
  • Once inside the chamber you will meet the Guardian Saxon who will introduce your next puzzle to solve.
  • The Final Discovery. If you can discover this last critical clue then you have everything you need to complete the mission!


More To Explore

After your visit, you can make use of the Avalon Marshes Centre and visit the Somerset Crafts gallery. You can also journey onto Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve and see replica wooden prehistoric trackways.


Accessibility

The reconstructed buildings are accessible but feature some uneven gravel surfaces and narrow spaces that may make turning in larger electric wheelchairs difficult. A manual wheelchair is available on site for visitors to loan if there are issues. Generally, light levels may be lower than you may be used to in modern buildings, and visitors are welcome to use a torch.
