DETAILS Come and join us on this Stunning hike which starts at the end of the Central line in the Pretty town of Epping. Within a few minutes of leaving the station we will be out into the rolling Essex countryside. Soon the stunning Copt Hall House will come into view this fine example of a Georgian Mansion which was built on land given by Elizabeth the first. The house had a colour full past being sold many times before it was gutted by fire in 1917 and stood empty until 1995 when the restoration work started and is still underway at present. Heading down hill we skirt around the edge of the village of Upshire. This is a good time to keep a look out for one of the Herds of Fallow deer that call the forest home. Our footpath takes us across the M25 motorway on one of the specially constructed bridges built to allow the deer to be able to graze in the fields surrounding the forest. Heading deeper into Epping forest once used by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I for hunting it has been a Royal forest since the 12 th Century. We now head to one of the highest points in the forest at High Beach where we can enjoy a Cuppa and a cake at the visitors centre or each your lunch that you have brought. From here if its a clear day we will have fantastic views across the Lea Valley back into central London. On Leaving High Beach we head into the heart of the forest passing many of the Mighty Beach trees that gave the area its name. Our hike now heads to Loughton and finishes at the Tube Station or you may wish to join us in a pub for a drink before your journey home.
