The aim of the IPC Champion Training is to support an individual to take on an IPC Champion role in their setting.

We invite a MAXIMUM of 2 individuals per setting to attend this training and share the role of IPC Champion in their setting.

Care workers are invited to take this FREE training opportunity.

It is essential that the individuals attending the training have relevant experience and status within the organization to be able to influence and change practice.

The IPC Champion Programme will cover:

• IPC care Champion responsibilities

• Strategic overview - setting the scene of IPC in social care 2022

• Transmission of infection

• An overview of Standard Precautions

• Risk assessment in IPC and the role of audit in assessing risks

• Basics of audit - why audits are important, types of audits and audit activity

• What next for the Champions programme?

Aim of Champion in settings:

• To help create and maintain an environment which will promote and improve the safety of service users, staff and visitors in relation to infection prevention and control;

• Convert IPC policy into achievable “do-able” practice

** This programme will be delivered online via MS Teams. Joining details will be sent to registered attendees in advance of sessions**

Note: Organizations may already have a nominated IPC lead person in place; the IPC Champion can be in addition to the nominated lead. Organizations may wish to nominate two individuals to undertake this role to spread the responsibility and to ensure succession planning and provide cover during leave etc.
