Overview

The theme of the ESELA Annual Conference 2019 is The Impact Revolution: The Role of Law and Lawyers. This year, the conference will have capacity for 400 delegates in plenary sessions and four break out sessions to choose from, each with space for 50-140 people.

Our programme of speakers will bring together perspectives from around the globe. We hope to create space for conversations which are geared towards understanding how legal practice and legal policy can help the social impact movement thrive.

Our hosts – The Marshall Institute, London School of Economics

We are delighted to announce the next ESELA Annual Conference will be hosted by the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship at the London School of Economics on 12 April 2019.

The Marshall Institute works to improve the impact and effectiveness of private action for public benefit through research, teaching and convening. It informs and coordinates the efforts of citizens, researchers, private sector organisations, and social entrepreneurs who are working to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges. We look forward to debating what role law and lawyers have to play.

Dates For Your Diary

The conference takes place on Friday 12 April 2019 in London, hosted by The Marshall Institute at the London School of Economics.

The conference will be preceded by an Academic Gathering on Thursday 11 April intended for academics and others with an interest in the implications of the impact revolution for legal scholarship, policy and multi-disciplinary education. If you wish to attend the Academic Gathering, click here to purchase your ticket.

On the evening of Thursday 11 April we are planning networking drinks for conference attendees. This is a chance for those arriving in London for the conference to meet each other and local attendees. Further details about the drinks will be announced during February.

Following the conference, if there is demand, we will organise a sightseeing walk on the morning of Saturday 13 April for those who wish to see some of the key London landmarks and continue conversations with other delegates. You can register your interest in taking part in the walk when you purchase your ticket.
