Event description
A shortlist of investment managers will compete for a £33.5m mandate from Friends Provident Foundation, the Blagrave Trust, and Joffe Trust.

About this event

You are invited to attend the ESG ‘investing olympics’, where a shortlist of best in class investment managers will present proposals to deliver the highest possible social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.

They are competing for a £33.5 million investment mandate from Friends Provident Foundation, the Blagrave Trust, and Joffe Trust.

We know there will be trade-offs between different approaches, and would like your help to consider the proposals, question the investment managers, and help our Trustees to decide which proposal to choose. You are also welcome along just to learn from the event.

This is an opportunity to see what emerging best practice looks like across different investment approaches, from impact investment funds that seek out solutions to social and environmental challenges, to large responsible investment funds that move markets and transnational companies on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues via their engagement and stewardship.

This invite is open to asset owners who share our desire to create impact through their investments, including charities, churches, university endowments, and pensions. We also invite our stakeholders, including grant recipients with an interest in sustainable economics and finance. The invite is not open to asset managers and related commercial services.

Please do share this invitation with any colleagues you believe would like to attend.

By running the ESG ‘investing olympics’, we hope to:

• Bring investment management out of the shadows;

• Draw on the expertise of like-minded investors and grant recipients;

• Share learning on emerging best practice in the market; and

• Send a market signal regarding asset owner demand for investment with purpose and expectations for social and environmental integration and impact.

Any asset managers or related commercial service providers who register to attend will be turned away at the door.

Organiser Friends Provident Foundation

Organiser of ESG 'investing olympics'

Friends Provident Foundation is an independent charity that makes grants and uses its endowment towards a fair and sustainable economic system that serves people and planet. We connect, fund, support and invest in new thinking to shape a future economy that works for all.

 Since 2004, we’ve pioneered the creation of fair economy for a better world. Already, we’ve helped improve access to financial services for people who were once excluded and supported the development of resilient economic communities across the UK.

 We’re a catalyst for wider change, making an impact through continuous experimentation and shared learning. And we do all we can to embody the change we want to see. We invest in great social enterprises and use our money in line with our values.

 Tomorrow, we’ll continue to fund more new thinking, connect new ideas, invest our capital in line with our aims and values and create better systems so that in the future, the economy will serve both people and planet.
