Description

If this session is 'SOLD OUT' please select the next available date.

What is ESOL Assessment?

Before you start an ESOL course at Belfast Met, we need to check your level of English. At ESOL Assessment we will test your English and give you advice about the best class for you.

What time do I need to come?

You must come at the start time of the session so that we have enough time to test you and to give you information about classes. If you arrive late we will not be able to assess you.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring proof of Booking Confirmation and Photographic ID - Passport, Driving Licence, Identity card, or an official document that shows your photograph, name, and date of birth clearly.

If you do not have a passport from the European Union, you will need to make an appointment with our International Office staff. Their office is in the TQ Building, level 1 room 44. The staff are available from Monday to Friday, 9.30 to 4.00 and the phone number is 028 90 265 192

Do I need to do the test if I already have a certificate showing my level of English?

If you have passed an official English exam in the last 12 months, please bring the certificate with you to ESOL assessment. This will help us to decide on the best class for you.

At what age can I start studying in the college?

You must be 16 years old at the time of enrolment.

Can I bring someone to wait with me at the assessment?

Yes, you can bring someone to wait for you in the reception at the college if you like but they cannot sit with you while you do the test. Unfortunately, you cannot bring children with you into the assessment room. We have no child minding facilities at the campus. Only students who have booked online may enter the assessment room.
