What to expect.
Whilst monitoring several of our ESOL classes we noticed that most projects seemed to excel in specific areas (e.g. use of technology or recruitment). Often this was due to the career and/or educational backgrounds of teachers or managers.
Seeing this we wondered how we could share these insights and practices, that come from decades of experience, with ESOL projects in Walsall and with equivalent colleagues in other areas.
We decided upon setting up a best practice webinar where managers and teachers can share their insights with colleagues.
We hope that you leave the event not only inspired but with a better understanding of how to apply the shared lessons in your projects.

Speakers
Gary Pluck
Gary has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing within the education, public and not-for-profit sectors. He has spent much of this time in senior management roles, including most recently Director of Marketing and Communications with a Private Training Provider. An expert in strategy, digital marketing and customer journey optimisation, he has won national awards for his post 16 education campaigns.
Presentation: ‘Successful Marketing Strategy and Planning’ - An introduction to the basics of marketing strategy and a template for individualised marketing plans.
Kirit Patel
Kirit worked as a Hub Manager for Manchester College where he led a team of 12 ESOL Tutors. He currently works as HUB Manager for NOVUS, part of the LTE Group. Where he looks after the Personal & Social Development (PSD) courses.
He is the Curriculum and operations lead for the Let’s Talk About It ESOL project at Hindu Forum in Walsall. Finally he runs a tuition business, part time, which supports students with the 11+, KS2/KS3 English and Maths and A-Level business studies.
Presentation: 'Creating & Developing An Engaging Programme' - Kirit will be talking about creating the LTAI base template criteria for Hindu Forum and how this has further developed with a reflection of the session delivered to date.
A'isha Khan
A'isha has been with Aaina since 2000 and has seen the organisation grow from a small Women's Group to a highly regarded and reputable provision that is focused on meeting the evolving needs of local women from disengaged communities. A'isha oversees the operational and strategic management for both Aaina and Iqra supplementary School, a registered charity that she founded in 2005 after identifying a lack of provision for children and young people in the locality. A'isha also has an interest in the Law and has been sitting as a Magistrate since 2007, she was subsequently appointed to Ordinary Member of the Charity Tribunal in 2008.
Presentation: "Aaina - Facilitating Empowerment through ESOL" - A'isha will be talking about how they make ESOL relatable and relevant to learners along with aiding progression and independence.
