Essential Awareness in Safeguarding- A refresher (3 hours)
For experienced providers who have already completed Safeguarding training within the last three years and who work regularly with children. Staff who may be in a position to identify concerns and who may be expected to contribute to the assessment of the child's developmental needs or the adult's parenting capacity.
This training is written in line with the Leicestershire's LSCB competency group 2
Overview: 'Essential Awareness in Safeguarding'
This course is designed to develop awareness of, and the ability to act on, concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.
The session includes:
the basic legislation within which children’s welfare is safeguarded
The attitudes & values that influence on your judgement about child welfare concerns
The blocks & challenges you face in safeguarding
how to identify concerns about children and young people in order to safeguard and promote their welfare including those who are suffering or at risk of suffering significant harm
Different types of abuse and how to identify concerns about children and young people in order to safeguard and promote their welfare including those who are suffering or at risk of suffering significant harm
a range of responses when a concern is identified including when and how information can be shared, and discuss barriers to information sharing
Your responsibility as part of the Prevent Duty and Promoting British Values
the processes to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
