Essex Rivers Hub Annual Event: Celebrating RiverWatch

Evening Overview

The Essex Rivers Hub Catchment Partnership is delighted to invite you to our very first annual event. This year, we are coming together to mark an important milestone – one year of our citizen science project, Essex RiverWatch. The evening will be a chance to recognise the contributions of our amazing volunteers, connect with partners, and learn about other exciting projects and opportunities.

Throughout the event, guests will hear from a range of speakers, beginning with an opening speech by Dr Helen Dangerfield, Director of the Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust, followed by a look at the data collected so far through RiverWatch. We’ll also explore other citizen science projects you can get involved in, and we are thrilled to welcome Mark Lloyd, CEO of The Rivers Trust movement, as our special guest speaker.

Alongside the talks, there will be information stalls hosted by our partners, giving you the chance to learn more about new initiatives across the catchment and discover how you can take part. Representatives from the Environment Agency, Essex Wildlife Trust, Anglian Water, to name a few, will be on hand to answer your questions, listen to your ideas, and discuss upcoming projects during the evening and in our open Q&A session.

Whether you are already involved in Essex RiverWatch, interested in citizen science, or simply passionate about rivers, this event is a chance to celebrate, connect, and share your love for the natural environment with like-minded people.

Event Info

You are welcome to bring someone to enjoy the evening with, we would love to see as many people there as possible to enjoy the evening and share in the celebration!

You will receive a welcome drink upon arrival and have a choice of light dinner options which can be selected when booking your ticket. Please let us know of any dietary requirements and we will do our best to accomodate. Further drinks can be purchased from the fully-licenced and well-stocked bar within the room.

Colchester Rugby Club, Raven Park, Cuckoo Farm Way, Colchester CO4 5YX

Situated on the northern edge of Colchester, Essex, by the Northern Gateway Colchester Sports Park. Easy access to the A12 with good local taxi/uber links to Colchester Rail Station. Colchester Park and Ride is situated next to the Rugby Club, approximately a 5-minute walk.

The Rugby Club has a very large car park which is free to all guests, please input your numberplate into the tablet upon arrival at the venue.
