Event description

Description

The Southeast, especially SC has long needed an American-Indian peer-reviewed journal or commercial journal representing the First Americans. There is lots of history here. There are at least 7 State recognized tribes and 1 federally recognized tribe and, tribal gaming, is allowing the First Americans economic self-dependency and their federally fecognized sovereignty to be recognized and challenged in the courts. Many need to be educated on this, especially our policy makers.

If interested, contact Rachel Hubata Ashton and we can discuss further options. Dr. Will Goins has already produced a book on SCs' American-Indians titled The People Speak. His brother, Taye Goins holds "The Native-American Film Festival" each November. We also have the "Midlands Intertribal Pow-wow" and the "SCIAC Pow-wow" annually in Columbia.

Thanks to all who are interested. We can get this going if we wish!
