About this event
With many of the Reducing Parental Conflict workforce development grant bids outlining an intention to deliver specialist relationship interventions it seems like an opportune moment to learn some lessons from the areas that have been piloting some of these interventions over the last three years. These areas now have a wealth of experience around some key issues including how:
- to engage key professionals & partners in the development of pathways to ensure parents have access to effective support at the right time
- we can know what we do works – or not, and improve outcomes for children
- to ensure robust processes are in place to manage concerns related to domestic abuse and adult mental health
You will be hearing from frontline practitioners experienced in identifying parents needing support, and providers who are delivering the interventions. Strategic leaders and service managers will also share their experiences of overseeing the development of these new pathways & services.
The event will be chaired by Patrick Myers, Reducing Parental Conflict programme and Jessica Asato, Head of Policy & Public Affairs, Barnardos
Speakers include:
Saleem Tariq, OBE Director of Children and Family Services, Leeds City Council
Jackie Lidell, Gemma Ozap, NE Referral Gateway and Relationship Champions and Kim Kyle, Regional Integration Lead, will perform a role play exploring relationship difficulties with parents
Ben Collins, Senior Practitioner & Strategic Project Development Manager
Marina Kitchen, Service Manager for Early Help & Targeted Support Services, Warwickshire County Council
Participants will learn:
- how a strong focus on relational practice can change organisations and our approach to working with families
- from the experiences of local areas and specialist providers who have safely trialled and developed new interventions and pathways into them
- how to build on the experience & capacity of a range of practitioners to enable them to deliver relationship support as part of everyday practice
- about tools & processes for engaging parents in conversations about relationships
A series of regional communities of practice are also being facilitated by RPC Regional Integration Leads in the week after the event to enable deeper thinking and participation.
