Event description

Description

The third ESTICT ("Engaging Students Through In-Class Technologies") event, and the first of the 2010/11 academic year, is due to take place on Wednesday 17th November, 9.30am - 4.00pm, at the University of Bath.

The event will be virtually keynoted by Dr. Derek Bruff, author of Teaching with Classroom Response Systems: Creating Active Learning Environments (Jossey-Bass, 2009), who will give a brief introduction to Electronic Voting Systems (EVS) before moving onto some more recent thoughts on the role of the backchannel in the classroom.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Derek is an Assistant Director at the Vanderbilt University Center for Teaching, a Senior Lecturer in the Vanderbilt University Department of Mathematics, and author of the successful blog, Teaching with Classroom Response Systems.

In what promises to be an exciting event, a small number of short practitioner-led presentations will precede a hands-on 'Experimentation Workshop with Classroom Technologies' which will centre on developing effective pedagogically-focused activities for technologies such as EVS, Tablet PCs, Digital Pens, iPads, visualisers and sympodiums.

TurningPointThis free event offers a great opportunity for networking, sharing and learning from others practice, and is open to any member of staff currently working within the HE and FE sectors in the United Kingdom.

ESTICT @ Bath is being sponsored by Reivo Ltd., the exclusive distributors of TurningPoint in the UK.
