Event description

Description

At Ethical Reading, we have a vision that society can be positively transformed by organisations with deeply rooted ethical behaviour, who are strongly engaged with the community and who act in an environmentally sustainable way. We believe that, as a community of organisations working together, we will be able to transform the working lives of people in Reading and make it a very special place where we treat each other with respect and compassion.

Out of this vision, Ethical Reading was born, and it is being formally launched at a breakfast event at Thames Tower, Reading on Wednesday 24 January at 8.00am. It is being supported by Grant Thornton, Shoosmiths, the Business Ethics Alliance and key people in the Reading locality – the leaders of industry, organisations, local government and charities – are all being invited. We are expecting over 100 business leaders at the launch.

What you will learn

In a transparent world with the spotlight of social media, doing business ethically is no longer a luxury but a necessity. The launch will provide lots of opportunity to learn, connect and collaborate – with a mixture of presentations, group exercises and a panel session covering real world ethical issues in the workplace.

Contributions will be made by

  • Professor Beverly Kracher - CEO Business Ethics Alliance, Omaha
  • Sacha Romanovitch - CEO of Grant Thornton
  • Mark Cuddigan, CEO Ella’s Kitchen
  • Becky Foreman – Director of Corporate Affairs, Microsoft
  • Supt. Stan Gilmour, Police Area Commander, Reading Borough
  • Yasmina Siadatan – Reading entrepreneur and winner of the Apprentice
  • Senior Leader from the University of Reading

So please try and come along, and remember to bring a future leader and change agent with you!

It would be great if together we could all be part of bringing to life something really important, special and unique...and really make a difference to our town.

Update: We are pleased to see that registration is filling up fast! Should registration be full when you try to register, please send us an email at support@ethicalreading.org.uk. We will put you on a waitlist and confirm your attendance as soon as we can thereafter.
