Compass- Ethical - Travel and Volunteering.
In association with Born Free and Blood Lions.
Are you looking to volunteer abroad this year or may be looking for that great safari adventure in Africa?
This event offers advice & information for people who are interested in international volunteering and want to make sure that what they do is of value to themselves and the people they work with. There are now loads of ways to get involved in international volunteering. You might be taking a gap year after school, or a career brake from your job, you might have been given the chance to have a sabbatical or you might have retired and be looking for new adventures. Whether you have a few weeks or a few years there are now loads of organisations that will help you find a volunteer programme.
But some of these programmes are much better than others. While volunteers intentions are nearly always good, this does not mean that all volunteer prorgammes are good. Indeed there are some programmes, out there that can be said to do more harm than good.
On the day there will be speakers such as Will Travers OBE from The Born Free Organisation along with the screening of the documentary Blood Lions plus representatives from ethical volunteer agencies and projects.
The day is set to empower you with knowledge to help you make informed decisions...
