EU Night: Stand up for Europeans
Event Information
Description
An evening of politics and comedy for Europeans in the UK.
From pulling out potatoes to performing heart surgery, the 3 million citizens of other EU countries play a vital role in British life. Unfortunately Brexit has left many confused and hurt, as well as concerned about their legal status. This gala evening organised by Canbury Press and Conway Hall – on the day Article 50 is triggered – will mark their contribution to the UK and say thank you.
In the first half of the evening Ian Dunt, author of Brexit: What the Hell Happens Now? and LSE economist Philippe Legrain will illuminate the facts about EU nationals here and the benefits they bring.
In the second top stand up talent (Shazia Mirza, Sindhu Vee and Grainne Maguire) will turn a humorous eye on what it's like to live in Brexit Britain.
Proceeds to the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, which campaigns for justice in immigration and asylum law.
Doors 7pm.
On the day Article 50 is triggered, enjoy a positive evening of wit and intelligence.
