Event Details

To coincide with European SME Week the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce are pleased to announce our forthcoming event on EU-US: Doing Business in the US Market

The US is Britain’s largest export market with over £30 billion sales. Progressively more UK companies are now exploring overseas markets than ever before and companies from a diverse number of sectors are winning new business in the US.

We have brought together for the first time experts on the US market who will be providing a valuable insight into doing business in the US market.

The event will aim to address the implications VAT has on UK businesses when dealing with the US, how companies can obtain business US visas, an insight into the commercial and corporate matters required by EU SMEs to trade with, expand to and operate in the US market.

The seminar will illustrate imperative and crucial issues that will assist in avoiding the pitfalls and common errors made by businesses whilst dealing with the US.

What will I get out of the event?

Delegates will gain an insight into:

  • how VAT affects UK businesses who want to trade goods and services to the EU and the US
  • procedure for obtaining US business visa
  • the risks in US commercial transactions that most typically catch smaller European companies off-guard
  • minimising commercial litigation risk in the US
  • discussion of EU-US income and corporate tax issues
  • the support available to help grow your business overseas from the Enterprise Europe Network, British American Business Council and UK Trade and Investment

Attendance is free of charge however delegates who register but do not attend and have not informed the event organiser within one working day of the event may be charged a £20 administration fee.
