EURAU 2020 / Multiple Identities. Reflections on the European City / 8 – 11 September 2021

About this event

EURAU 2020 / Multiple Identities.

Reflections on the European City / 8 – 11 September 2021

EURAU 2020//(21) will explore urban identities that have the capacity to articulate multiple perspectives in the contemporary city in terms of different processes and fields of study from evaluation and analysis, through design and formulation, to making and critique. The conference offers the opportunity to examine exemplars from around the world and their relationship to contemporary Europe, what does European identity mean? Can it be found outside Europe? In addition to this, the current Covid-19 pandemic has evidenced some aspects of the European cities and the lifestyles of their inhabitants that need to be analysed and interpreted. Will European cities be perceived in the same way after the pandemic?

The conference will be held across two sites, Birmingham School of Architecture and Design, Birmingham City University and School of Digital, Technologies and Arts, Staffordshire University bringing unique perspectives of heritage, craft and technology into the discussions.

Due to the current travel uncertainties with Covid-19, the conference is currently being planned as a blended event, with the opportunity to present papers online and participate in a number of networking opportunities. Pricing and payment reflect this; currently delegates are only being charged the online rate, should circumstances allow for us to confirm in-person places, we will request the remaining balance at that time. Full programme and Keynotes will be announced very shortly.
