Event description

Description

Hear from architecture practices UHO, Antonini Darmon Architects, Flores & Prats, Barozzi Veiga at the RIBA.

FRANCE

Laetitia Antonini and Tom Darmon established Antonini + Darmon Architects in Paris in 2006. Their creative system was born from the partnership of two complementary yet different personalities. Antonini + Darmon Architects aim to propose an original architectural interpretation, where each project follows a path having its own identity and dynamics. The practices’ architecture is contextual: functionality, rigor and sobriety are combined in order to transform the project into an object of beauty.

Antonini + Darmon Architects are more especially dedicated to the new architectural and urban stakes involved with sustainable development. The main approach is inspired by the will to create intimate living quarters which interact with the outside world. Antonini + Darmon create buildings and spaces connected to the needs of today’s society, integrating High Environmental Quality (HQE®) into our thought process. Our diversely talented team puts itself at the service of the project, communicating openly with partners, listening to them and sharing thoughts with them. Antonini Darmon are winners of 40 under 40 (2011) and AJAP (2012).

UHO is an architecture studio led by Adrien Durrmeyer and Max Turnheim. Recognising the possibility of acts of emancipation in abstract space, UHO tries to take on the task of verifying their validity in concrete space. Albeit the risk of naive analogies, it believes in the radical materiality of architecture as an argument for potential modification of the political structure.

Adrien Durrmeyer’s work is heavily infused with a historical perspective on space and focuses on immutability throughout time. He notably participated in events like the CANactions festival in Kiev or the Misunderstandings exhibition co-organized by the FRAC Centre and CAMPO. Since 2009, Adrien also taught in architecture schools like ÉSA, ÉNSAPM and ÉNSAPVS. Max Turnheim is a Franco-American architect based in Paris. He has co-directed the studios École and UHO. His work focuses mainly on the relationship between architecture and its hosting regime. It ranges from domestic spaces to urban projects. Parallel to his practice, Max has taught in numerous French architecture schools as well as at the Architectural Association.
