Europe: breaking up is hard to do
Join us at ‘Europe: breaking up is hard to do’, a timely panel event hosted by the New Statesman in association with the HM Government of Gibraltar with its Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, EU law specialist Professor Michael Dougan of the University of Liverpool as well as Hilary Benn MP, former shadow Foreign Secretary.
This discussion will discuss and analyse how Britain and Gibraltar should forge its new relationship with the European Union, its single market and its people. Given that Gibraltarians voted overwhelmingly at 96% to remain in the EU, what can the Remainers do about Brexit?
What do the experts expect post-Brexit to look like? What should parties like the UK Labour Party and the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party focus on in the upcoming Brexit negotiations?
This will put into perspective the complex measures that Britain and Gibraltar will need to take in order to secure global security, information exchange, science and research, job security and individual economies.
