Did you know Europe Day takes place every year on May 9th? It is a day to reflect on the peace, unity and friendships created in Europe since the Schumann Declaration in 1950 – a key milestone in the history of the European Union.

To mark Europe Day, Edinburgh 4 Europe, a European Movement in Scotland affiliated group, invite you to join us for a free volunteer led EuroWalk around the Calton Hill area of Edinburgh.

We have chosen to launch this new EuroWalk on Europe Day in solidarity with Ukraine. The walk includes the Ukrainian Community Centre, and we will also visit the Holodomor stone which remembers the millions of Ukrainians who died in the genocide of the Soviet inflicted forced famine of 1932-33.

This 90-minute EuroWalk follows a route that includes ten landmarks each providing a small insight into the richness of Edinburgh’s strong European ties. However, if you can’t make this walk on May 9th you can find all information on a self-guided version on the website of the European Movement in Scotland – including other EuroWalks in Edinburgh and across Scotland.
