Speaker: Sir Jon Cunliffe CB, UK Permanent Representative to the EU
Jon Cunliffe has been the UK Permanent Representative to the EU since January 2012. Immediately prior to this he was the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Europe and Global Issues and the UK Sherpa for the G8 and G20 in the UK Cabinet Office (from July 2007 – December 2011). Previously (from 2002 – 2007) Jon was Second Permanent Secretary at HM Treasury and Managing Director of the Macroeconomic and International Finance Directorate, and the UK representative on the EU Economic and Finance Committee, Chair of the EFC sub committee on the IMF (SCIMF), Chair of the Committee of IMF Deputies, and UK G7 and G20 Deputy. In his earlier civil service career he held various posts in HM Treasury on EU and international finance work, and in the British government departments of Environment and Transport.
