Event description

Description

On 6 December 2017 the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) published two new calls for tender for the provision of translation services by external contractors, covering the combinations of French, Hungarian, Bulgarian or Romanian into English, and English into Dutch, Czech, Irish or Maltese.

The calls are published here:

https://ec.europa.eu/info/tender/casc17

https://ec.europa.eu/info/tender/omni17

Any queries relating to the calls for tender must be directed to the email addresses given at these links.

These calls will introduce a new way of collaborating with partners outside the Commission. At this information event at Europe House in London, members of staff from DGT's English language department and external translation unit will explain the new approach, present the main features of the new tender specifications and attempt to answer your questions on the procedure.

The tendering process is open to language service providers in both corporate form (such as translation agencies) and as individuals (such as freelance translators). This information event is similarly open to all potential tenderers of services in response to the call, but venue capacity is limited and registration is essential.

NB: attendance is entirely optional - contractors may submit tenders in response to the call whether or not they have attended the event.

The event will run from 11.00 to 17.00, with a light lunch provided for participants. When registering please indicate any dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate them. Alternatively there are many lunch providers in the vicinity of Europe House.

If you register and cannot attend, please cancel your ticket in good enough time to allow those on the waiting list to attend, by following these instructions or emailing paul.kaye@ec.europa.eu. Please help us to avoid the frustration of empty seats at a fully-booked event.

Please also note that new security arrangements at Europe House may require you to undergo a security scan on arrival at the venue. For the same reason, in bookings of more than one ticket, the name of each individual attendee must be indicated.

Outline timing of event:

10.30 Registration - tea and coffee
11.00 Welcome and introduction
13.00 Lunch
14.30 Second half
15.45 Break
16.00 Conclusion
17.00 Event closes
