About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Learn a variety of paper folding and bookmaking techniques to create expanding paper sculptures.

Join us for a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of Modern Art Oxford’s archive in this Estampa-inspired evening class. Using our own movements extracted from a typical research process we will focus on the body as our first point of understanding, as we flick, slide and leaf through the gallery’s extensive archive. We will slow these processes down to understand the ways in which our bodies remember and hold vital information as embodied ways of knowing and learning, creating a short series of gestural sketches inspired by our archive journey. We will learn a variety of paper folding and bookmaking techniques to create expanding paper sculptures using reproductions of Modern Art Oxford’s historical documents/materials.
